Research

I conduct research in three related areas:

  • Doctrinal research in administrative law: I work on doctrinal difficulties in areas such as substantive and procedural review, the public/private divide, remedial discretion and cost-benefit analysis.
  • The nature of judicial review: I work on understanding, explaining and improving judicial review of state action by focusing on its basis and legitimacy.
  • Use of discretion by the state: I work on the strategic use of law by state actors in order to achieve their goals.
